31 Day Series

It's almost October!  YAY! for all of the fun fall activities coming up: pumpkin patch, pumpkin picking, Fall parties, Texas State Fair, Halloween, and Hayrides.  I'm so ready!

October is a fun blogging month, too.  Remember last year when I took The Nester's 31 day challenge?  I wrote about finding balance as a homeschool mom.  It was definitely a challenge:  writing everyday for a month isn't easy.

You can check out my 31 day series: Finding Balance as a Homeschool Mom HERE.

I'm taking the challenge again this year and I'm writing about something that is near and dear to my heart... Growing in Godliness.

I hope you will follow along this month as I tackle this challenge.  I'm praying and seeking Him with each post I write.

Be looking for my first post some time on Wednesday (after our What You Wish Wednesday link-up party).

I apologize in advance for the "battle-wound pic"...

This is what happens when you burn yourself with hot glue and wipe the glue off with the other hand.  OUCH!   It's healing very slowly.

Ladies Retreat | Crystal Beach

I just got back from a wonderful retreat with the ladies from my church.  We had the best time of relaxation, communion with the Lord, and fellowship with one another.  I am refreshed and renewed!   I'm praising the Lord for my time away from the busyness of being a mom.

We stayed at a beautiful home on Crystal Beach.  It was truly a retreat home--newly built, spacious, and gorgeous.

On Friday, we played games, walked the beach, got settled, and enjoyed some really yummy seafood.  Saturday morning, we had a time of Bible study (myself and a friend shared with the group) and the rest of the day was spent relaxing.  Saturday night, we enjoyed more games, great food, and good conversation.

It's rare for me to take pics of anything other than my kids.  Both mornings, I rose early and headed out to catch the sunrise.  It was a peaceful time...

good friends

I had never been to a Texas beach before this weekend.  It was much different than the white sandy beaches of Florida, but still beautiful in its own way.  Where it's hard to find a really good shell in Florida, there are no shortage of shells on the Texas shoreline...

I have never seen so many shells in my life!

See the tiny sliver moon fading?

Can you spot the sun rising?

There were a few more early risers on day two.

My mom went on the retreat with me.  Sunday was her birthday and it was nice to share in her day.

I'm so thankful for my time away, but now it's back to the grind!  I am refreshed and ready to continue carrying out the Great Commission in my home with my children.  I'm praying they come to know the Lord soon and serve Him gladly as a member of the body of Christ--joyfully proclaiming His truths.

Oh Hey, Friday!

Oh Hey, Friday!!  I'm so glad it's almost the weekend.  Our weeks have been so busy and our weekends are pretty busy, too.  It's a good kind of busy, but it still takes a toll on us.  With all of the hustle and bustle, I've caught a cold and that's never a good thing.  I rarely get sick, but when I do it seems that over-the-counter drugs don't do any good.  I'm praying that this cold is the exception.  This time next week, I will be at the beach with the ladies from my church on a much needed retreat so...I gotta kick this cold!!

On to my FIVE...

[ONE]
Remember me worrying about moving AG to the top bunk?  It wasn't for fear of her sleeping on the top bunk, it was a dread of trying to make that beast!
Y'all! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Just look at how good she has been making her bed...

Pretty good for a 7 year old, right?

I've been a good momma and have fought off the urge to straighten!

[TWO]
Living in East Texas has its woes...
We see these guys from time to time...

YUCK-O!!!

During homeschool, Joy (16 month old) was playing in her room.  I heard a "hurt cry" and ran to check on her.  After some investigation, I found the culprit attached to a pillow in the corner.  Her thumb quickly began to swell and she had a good cry, but in a matter of minutes she was playing and laughing again.

*For the record, these little tree scorpions aren't dangerous, but their stings are said to be worse than a red wasp.

Poor, poor, JoJo!

[THREE]
Our little pumpkin patch (lovingly named: The Piney Woods Pumpkin Patch by AG) has yielded its first lil' punkin'!  Isn't he cute?

Click HERE for earlier pics of the patch

[FOUR]
Our soccer season is off to a great start...

Both girls are playing:  Honeybees (Edy Rose) and Purple Panthers (Ava Grace).

[FIVE]
This week, I shared some scripture memory cards I made for a discipleship group I lead.  I would love for others to enjoy and benefit from them.

Scripture memory isn't just for kids, it is so important that us adults continue to memorize scripture, meditate on it, and pray it.  Growing in godliness is a lifelong pursuit.

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

Click HERE to access the cards.

Y'all have a great weekend and don't forget to link up your posts this coming Wednesday...
