five on friday

*I made this one...couldn't resist*

Instead of reading about the blue and black dress, how about you read about things of real significant importance.

For starters...

How cute is my new mug?

It's so posh and gorgeous.  Except...*drumroll please*...it's not dishwasher safe.  STRIKE ONE!  That gold is really 18k gold plate and I stuck it in the microwave and sparks started flyin'.  STRIKE TWO!! So...this pretty little mug is holding pens in my office!!  Ain't nobody got time for that!

I forgot to show y'all what Graham gave me for Valentine's day...

A big ole' ruler!

He gets me! I've been wanting to make one of these for a long time, but when we saw them at Kirkland's for less than I could make one he secretly purchased it and surprised me!!

Can you zoom in and see my height versus Graham's?  I like 'em tall!  Just him.  I like him tall!

AG snapped this pic of us on Valentine's day.

I've seen one too many snow pics on FB and I've been getting a little perturbed.  We never get snow here in East Texas.

I wrote this on my outside chalkboard at Christmas.  We laughed at it in mid-January when the girls were outside...in shorts...jumping on the trampoline...in 75+ degree weather.

Then, it got real cold on Sunday night...

Graham and I dozed off in our chairs by the fire.  I know...we have our own chairs and that makes us an old married couple.

And then....

It SNOWED!!!!!!

You can read more about our snow day HERE.

And before y'all comment about how sick you are of snow--spare me!!!  I get it!  You've gotten more snow than you know what to do with.  We just got this weak little dusting, but we were SO happy to see the white stuff!!

Did y'all see Joy's room makeover?  My baby is out of her crib and in a twin bed and I'm not too happy about it, but it had to be done.

Click HERE to see her new bed and room make-over!

Y'all have a great weekend.  Keep warm!!!

Joy's Big Girl Bed

A few weeks ago, I posted about Joy Tatum climbing out of her crib, scaring us to death by biting her tongue, and how we converted her baby bed into a toddler bed.  Click HERE to read more.

Here's her nursery...
I had every intention on keeping her in the baby bed until she was two or older, but she had other plans.

She was doing fine with her toddler bed, except she got up a lot during naptime before finally going to sleep.  But honestly, toddler beds stress me, seem unfinished, and are too transitional to for my taste.  Weird as it sounds, I prefer something more permanent.

That being said, I painted my old childhood bed, found a used Pottery Barn quilt on eBay, and moved her to a "big girl" bed.  It's killing me that my baby is in a big bed.  I'm not just saying that.  I mean it!  I wish she was still in her crib and I'd set it back up tomorrow if I knew she'd stay in it!

Here's her new bed...
I think it's so neat that all three of my girls have transitioned from the crib to my childhood bed.  This is the second make-over I've given it and it actually "goes" with the armoire in the big girls' room. (The one I painted orange.)

I'm in love with the gently used patchwork quilt I found on eBay.  Eventually, we are going to put all three girls in a room together and I wanted something that would coordinate with the matching quilts on the big girls' bunk bed.

In case you're wondering, we installed a hideaway railing that pulls out from under the mattress and it's safe and snug so she won't fall out.

Joy loves her little hand-me-down kitchen, too!  It has held up great and I think it's incredible how we can just pass stuff right on down the line!!!

So far she has taken this change with stride and seems to be liking her new bed!

**P.S.  I am selling the baby bed and the crib bedding if y'all know anyone in the East Texas area that'd be interested.

Snow Day 2015

Y'all, it snowed!!!!!  We've lived in East Texas almost five years and this is only the second time we've seen snow!  So...unlike a lot of you, we welcomed the little bit that came our way!

*lots and lots of pics*

It's basically a form of child abuse to make your kids stay inside on a snow day, right?!

Joy Tatum's first snow day!

She didn't want to touch it!

The girls had their share of fun and came inside to warm up by the fire and watch White Christmas!

Must Watch...

If y'all get a few minutes, please watch this video and share it.  Matt Chandler lays it out there...

Psalm 119: 105

Here is a verse for y'all to meditate on and memorize (you probably already know it, but pray it throughout the week.)

Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.  Psalm 119:105

Here’s a simple way to pray that scripture:

“Lord, may I desire You!  Would you give me opportunities to study your word for the purpose of growing in you?  I know that your word sharpens me, instructs me, guides me, rebukes me.  Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Thank you, Father, for your perfect truths. Amen.”

Here are my thoughts along with commentary on that little verse:

The word of God: the image of light is that of God’s guidance; it makes the right path clear for those who pursue covenant faithfulness.  The path of the righteous is the way of wisdom!

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter and brighter until full day. Proverbs 4:18

Continue to grow in godliness!!!!!!!  Let your light shine before your friends, family, coworkers!

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Ephesians 3:20

Just a word of encouragement for y'all on this Monday morning:

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20

Meditate on this verse and pray this verse:  If we ask, in accordance to His will, (EXAMPLE: pray to grow in godliness, pray for understanding of the scriptures, pray for desire to learn more, pray for Him to help you recall scripture, pray for discernment, pray for strength to fight temptation) He will do above and beyond our expectations.  Do you want to grow in Him?  ASK!  Do you want to have strength to fight temptation to sin?  ASK.  Do you want to understand the scriptures you are reading?  ASK!  He is faithful to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine!!!  To Him be the glory!

Five on Friday

It's FIVE on FRIDAY time!!!
**great quality phone pics headed your way...

Never been much for bathroom selfies, but they are great for wardrobe advice from good friends.

Remember me telling y'all about Joy climbing out of her baby bed, us converting it to a toddler bed, and how she is doing great with the change???  Remember that?  SCRATCH THE LAST PART!  She's found a new freedom and it's about to kill me!!  MY WILL IS STRONGER!!!!!!!  I put her back in her bed 12, TWELVE!!!!, times at nap the other day.  She doesn't get out of her bed at all during the night (probably because it's pitch black), but naptime is another story!!

I haven't posted about homeschooling in a while...

It's going great!!!  I love my job more and more each day!  AG and Edy are doing so good--growing as little learners day after day!  I am seeing these classical methods paying off and it's so rewarding.

My little photog business is still going well.  I'm slowly finding my niche.  I don't see myself as the seasonal mini-sesh type.  It's too much work and too fast pace for my lifestyle.  I really enjoy the family and kids sessions!  I have gotten to know some wonderful people and I'm steadily slowly growing as a photographer.  Check out my site HERE.

Processing orders for clients is fun--especially with my new logo, name, and packaging!!

Here are some recent posts you may have missed:

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!
